A guilty plea entered on the advice of counsel, where counsel explains the basis of liability under s 8 of the Criminal Code (WA) and the relative advantages and disadvantages of pleading guilty, will not be set aside merely because the appellant later claims not to have understood the basis of liability, particularly where the appellant's credibility is poor and the objective evidence supports a voluntary and informed plea.
