The Court sentenced the offender to an aggregate term of 1 year and 3 months' imprisonment (non-parole period of 11 months and 7 days) for two s 315(1) offences of hindering the apprehension and investigation of a murder, assessed at the lower end of objective seriousness given the hindering was practically ineffectual. The Court allowed a 60-day adjustment for restrictive bail conditions (particularly home detention) as quasi-custody, and a further 60-day adjustment for a period of pre-sentence custody partly referable to the present offences, backdating the sentence commencement accordingly. The offender's prospects of rehabilitation were assessed as guarded given his criminal history and relatively recent cessation of drug use.
