Biosecurity directions—giving directions
147 Biosecurity directions—giving directions
An authorised person may give a biosecurity direction to a person by—
giving the direction in writing; or
giving the direction orally; or
if the direction is to a person at particular premises—
giving the direction to the owner, occupier or person apparently in charge of the premises; and
displaying the direction in a prominent place at or adjacent to the premises; or
if it is an emergency and the person is an occupier of premises—displaying a copy of the direction in a prominent place at, or adjacent to, the premises.
If a biosecurity direction is given—
orally—an authorised person must, within 7 days, give a written confirmation of the direction to the person (unless the direction has already been complied with); or
in an emergency—
the direction must include a warning that the direction is being given in an emergency; and
an authorised person must, within 7 days, give a written copy of the direction to the person (unless the direction has already been complied with).
A failure to comply with subsection (2) (b) (i) does not affect the validity of a biosecurity direction.
