30 Injury notice
An injured person must tell a corrections officer that the person has been injured as soon as possible after being injured.
The corrections officer must—
help the injured person complete a notice of the injury (an injury notice); or
if the injured person is unable to complete an injury notice—complete an injury notice for the injured person.
An injury notice must state—
the name and address of the injured person; and
the cause of the injury (in ordinary language); and
the date and time the injury happened; and
if the injured person is not a detainee in a correctional centre—the name and address of the person’s treating doctor or, if there is no treating doctor, a doctor who has treated the person for the injury.
The injured person must, as soon as possible after the injury notice is completed, give a copy of it to—
the director‑general; and
the ACT Insurance Authority; and
if the injured person is a detainee in a correctional centre—the doctor appointed for the correctional centre under the Act, section 21 (Doctors—health service appointments); and
if the injured person is not a detainee in a correctional centre—the person’s treating doctor or, if there is no treating doctor, a doctor who has treated the person for the injury.
