Making a claim
36 Making a claim
An injured person may claim compensation by completing a claim form (a claim for compensation).
The injured person must give the claim for compensation to—
the director‑general; and
the ACT Insurance Authority; and
if the injured person is a detainee in a correctional centre—the doctor appointed for the correctional centre under the Act, section 21 (Doctors—health service appointments); and
if the injured person is not a detainee in a correctional centre—the person’s treating doctor or, if there is no treating doctor, a doctor who has treated the person for the injury.
The claim for compensation must be accompanied by a medical assessment of the injured person.
A claim is made on the day the claim for compensation is given to the ACT Insurance Authority.
