Dangerous Substances Act 2004

An inspector may exercise 1 or more of the powers mentioned in section 145 in relation to a substance at a public place if the inspector suspects, on reasonable grounds, that the substance is a dangerous substance.

This Act applies in relation to the exercise of a power under subsection (1) as if—

the public place were premises entered by the inspector under this chapter; and

all other necessary changes were made.

Without limiting subsection (2), if a person is required to do something by an inspector under subsection (1), the person need not comply with the requirement if the inspector does not produce his or her identity card for inspection when asked by the person.

However, subsection (3) does not apply in relation to an inspector who is a police officer in uniform.
