Meaning of hazard and risk

(1)

For this Act, a hazard is a thing (including an intrinsic property of a thing), or a situation, with potential to—

(a)

cause the death of or harm to a person; or

(b)

damage property or the environment.

(2)

For this Act, a risk is the likelihood of death or harm to a person, or damage to property or the environment, from a hazard.
