Electoral Act 1992

After a visiting officer has completed all their visits under section 150 or section 150A, the officer shall, in the presence of any scrutineers—

close and seal the ballot boxes containing ballot papers for ordinary voting or declaration voting; and

parcel and enclose in sealed wrapping all unused ballot papers; and

parcel and enclose in sealed wrapping all other electoral papers used for the purposes of the visits.

The visiting officer shall give the articles referred to in subsection (1) to the commissioner.

The commissioner shall keep the articles referred to in subsection (1) in safe custody for the purposes of scrutiny under part 12.
