Environment Protection Act 1997

If the authority has reasonable grounds for suspecting that a person—

has information reasonably required by the authority for the administration or enforcement of this Act; or

has possession or control of a document containing such information;

the authority may serve on the person an information discovery order requiring the person to give the information or produce the document.

An order must be in writing and must —

identify the person on whom the order is served; and

specify why the information is required; and

specify the date on or before which the order must be complied with; and

set out the maximum penalty, on conviction, for a failure to comply with the order.
