15 Health care worker must mitigate harm

(1)

If an adverse event occurs in connection with providing a health service to a client, a health care worker must take appropriate and timely measures to minimise harm to the client.

(2)

Without limiting subsection (1), a health care worker must, as soon as practicable after the adverse event occurs—

(a)

tell the client about the adverse event; and

(b)

for a serious adverse event—obtain appropriate emergency assistance; and

(c)

take steps to reduce the risk of a similar adverse event occurring; and

(d)

report the adverse event to any relevant authority.

(3)

A health care worker must ensure that appropriate first aid is available to deal with any adverse event.
