31C Fees for services of private legal practitioners

(1)

The fees the commission pays for services provided by private legal practitioners to legally assisted people must as far as practicable—

(a)

consist of fixed amounts for the performance of particular services; and

(b)

be less than the ordinary professional cost of those services.

(2)

However, the commission must consult, and take into account the views of, the following bodies when determining the fees it will pay for services provided by private legal practitioners to legally assisted people:

(a)

the council of the law society;

(b)

the council of the bar association.
