26 Mail searches—consequences
(1)
The director-general must deliver a patient’s mail searched under section 25 (Monitoring mail) to the addressee as soon as practicable.
(2)
Subsection (1) is subject to section 53 (Seizing property—general).
(3)
If a search of the patient’s mail reveals information about the commission of a serious offence, the director-general must give the information to the chief police officer.
(4)
In this section:
serious offence means an offence punishable by imprisonment for 5 years or longer, and includes an offence in another jurisdiction that would be a serious offence if committed in the ACT.
