55 Power to obtain, inspect and copy documents

(1)

An authorised person may, in writing, require any of the following people to give the authorised person information, or produce documents or anything else, that the person has, or has access to, that are reasonably required by the authorised person for this Act:

(a)

a professional engineer;

(b)

an employer or former employer of a professional engineer;

(c)

an employee or former employee of a professional engineer.

(2)

A person must take reasonable steps to comply with a requirement made of the person under this section.

Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.

Note 1 It is an offence to make a false or misleading statement, give false or misleading information or produce a false or misleading document (see Criminal Code, pt 3.4).

Note 2 The Legislation Act, s 171 deals with the application of client legal privilege.
