Road Transport (General) Act 1999

The road transport authority must issue an authorised person with an identity card that states the person is an authorised person for the road transport legislation, or stated provisions of the road transport legislation, and shows—

a recent photograph of the person; and

the name of the person or the particulars that are identifying particulars for the person (or both); and

the date of issue of the card; and

a date of expiry for the card; and

the name and signature of the person who issued the card; and

anything else prescribed by regulation.

A person who ceases to be an authorised person must return his or her identity card to the road transport authority as soon as practicable, but within 21 days, after ceasing to be an authorised person.

Maximum penalty (subsection (2)): 1 penalty unit.

In this section:

identifying particulars, for a person, means:

for a person authorised by the administering authority for an infringement notice offence to serve infringement or reminder notices—the unique number given to the person by the administering authority under the Road Transport (Offences) Regulation 2005, section 11; and

for any other authorised person—the unique number given to the person by the road transport authority; and

any other particulars prescribed by regulation.
