Destruction of fingerprints

In force

(1)

If an image of a person’s fingerprints is taken by a public servant for section 17 (3) (a), the commissioner for fair trading must—

(a)

ensure that a copy of the image is given to the person; and

(b)

ensure that the image, and any copy not given to the person, is destroyed; and

(c)

tell the person in writing about the destruction.

(2)

If an image of a person’s fingerprints is taken by a police officer for section 17 (3) (a), the chief police officer must—

(a)

ensure that a copy of the image is given to the person; and

(b)

ensure that the image, and any copy not given to the person, is destroyed; and

(c)

tell the person in writing about the destruction.
