33 Notice of repayment and recovery procedures

(1)

As soon as practicable after the day the commissioner receives an application under section 31 (Application to commissioner) the commissioner must give the applicant written notice about the action that may be taken against—

(a)

an applicant under part 5 (Repayment of financial assistance and funeral expenses by assisted person); and

(b)

an offender under part 6 (Recovery from offender).

(2)

The notice must also state that, if financial assistance is given to the applicant, the person responsible for the act of violence that is the subject of the application may be contacted by the commissioner to recover some or all of the financial assistance given.
