When deciding an application for financial assistance, the commissioner may ask the applicant to—
submit to an examination by a health practitioner; and
arrange for a report of the examination to be given to the commissioner.
Despite any law or duty requiring a health practitioner to maintain the confidentiality of health examinations, a health practitioner may give the commissioner—
a report about an examination conducted under this section; and
any other information the health practitioner considers is relevant to the report about the examination.
Note It is an offence for an official to divulge protected information (see s 89 (1)).
If the commissioner asks for an examination under this section the commissioner must pay for the examination.
