65 Assisted person liable for repayment amount
This section applies if—
an assisted person receives an associated payment after receiving financial assistance or a funeral expense payment; and
the assisted person—
is given a repayment direction notice; and
does not, on or before the repayment date stated in the notice, pay the repayment amount or apply for a review, under section 67 (3) (b), of the repayment direction notice.
The assisted person is liable to pay to the Territory the repayment amount that applies to the person.
The repayment amount is a debt due to the Territory, payable by the assisted person.
Note An amount owing under a law may be recovered as a debt in a court of competent jurisdiction or the ACAT (see Legislation Act, s 177).
