Waste Management and Resource Recovery Act 2016

In this Act:

waste activity—

means any of the following activities carried out by a waste management business:

collecting waste;

transporting waste;

storing, sorting, treating, processing, or disposing of waste; and

Example—processing of waste

 generating energy from waste material

Example—disposing of waste

 depositing waste in landfill

Note 1 Collecting or transporting waste is carried out by a waste transporter (see s 13).

Note 2 Storing, sorting, treating, processing, or disposing of waste happens at a waste facility (see s 14).
