Operators have reported that EL-Products Lighting Plates part number 95-1847-1 (installed on Electrical Power Control Panels) and part number 95-1838-1 and -3 (installed on Fuel Control Panels) may suffer from material stress. These stresses have caused internal short circuits, which in turn resulted in burned spots on the lighting panels and in some cases, smoke and noxious fumes were evident in the cockpit. Compliance with this Directive will decrease the likelihood of electrical short circuits in the Lighting Plates occurring.
