Air Services Act 1995

The Board may appoint a person to act as Chief Executive Officer:

during a vacancy in the office of Chief Executive Officer, whether or not an appointment has previously been made to the office; or

during any period, or during all periods, when the Chief Executive Officer is absent from duty or from Australia or is, for any other reason, unable to perform the functions of the office.

A person, other than an employee, who is acting as Chief Executive Officer is to be paid such remuneration and allowances as the Board determines in writing.

An employee who is acting as Chief Executive Officer must continue to be paid the remuneration and allowances payable to the employee as an employee but must also be paid such additional remuneration and allowances as the Board determines in writing.
