Australian National Registry of Emissions Units

In force

(1)

The register:

(a)

known as the Australian National Registry of Emissions Units; and

(b)

that was in existence under the executive power of the Commonwealth immediately before the commencement of this section;

continues in existence as a register under this Act under the name Australian National Registry of Emissions Units.

(2)

The Registry is to be kept by the Regulator.

Note:

In this Act, Registry means the Australian National Registry of Emissions Units—see section 4.

(3)

The Registry is to be maintained by electronic means.

(4)

The purposes of the Registry are as follows:

(a)

to be a registry for:

(i)

Australian carbon credit units; and

(ii)

safeguard mechanism credit units;

(b)

to be Australia’s national registry for Kyoto units.
