The functions of the Director‑General are:

to manage the administration of the Regulator; and

to ensure the proper, efficient and effective performance of the Regulator’s functions; and

to determine objectives, strategies and policies to be followed by the Regulator in the performance of its functions; and

to ensure that the Regulator complies with any directions given by the Minister under subsection 105(1); and

to ensure that the Regulator’s functions are performed having regard to the security of naval nuclear propulsion information; and

any other functions conferred on the Director‑General under this Act or any other Commonwealth law; and

to do anything incidental or conducive to the performance of any of the above functions.

For the purposes of paragraph (f), an example of a function conferred on the Director‑General under this Act is the function of appointing inspectors (see section 86).

The Director‑General has power to do all things necessary or convenient to be done for or in connection with the performance of the Director‑General’s functions.
