7 Director‑General
(1)
There shall be a Director‑General of Security, who shall be appointed by the Governor‑General and shall hold office, subject to this Act, on such terms and conditions as the Governor‑General determines.
(2)
Before a recommendation is made to the Governor‑General for the appointment of a person as Director‑General, the Prime Minister shall consult with the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives.
