318 Inspections and taking samples of goods or premises
A biosecurity officer may inspect goods or premises.
Premises include a conveyance (see paragraph (a) of the definition of premises in section 9).
A biosecurity officer may:
take samples of the goods or premises; or
direct a person in charge of the goods or premises to deliver to the biosecurity officer such samples of the goods or premises as are specified in the direction; or
arrange for another person, with appropriate qualifications or expertise, to take samples of the goods or premises.
A biosecurity officer may:
carry out tests on any samples taken or delivered under subsection (2); or
arrange for another person, with appropriate qualifications or expertise, to carry out tests on any of those samples.

Civil penalty provision
A person who is given a direction under paragraph (2)(b) must comply with the direction.
Civil penalty: 120 penalty units.
If a person is given a direction under paragraph (2)(b) in accordance with a biosecurity control order or a biosecurity response zone determination and the person fails to comply with the direction, the person may also commit an offence (see section 327).
Meaning of person in charge of premises (other than a conveyance)
For the purposes of paragraph (2)(b), the person in charge of premises (other than a conveyance) is the owner or the occupier of the premises.
