18 Appointment of members of the Regulator
Each member of the Regulator is to be appointed by the Minister by written instrument.
The member of the Regulator is eligible for reappointment: see the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.
A person is not eligible for appointment as a member of the Regulator unless the Minister is satisfied that the person has:
substantial experience or knowledge; and
significant standing;
in at least one of the following fields:
economics;
industry;
energy production and supply;
energy measurement and reporting;
greenhouse gas emissions measurement and reporting;
greenhouse gas abatement measures;
financial markets;
trading of environmental instruments;
land resource management;
public administration;
agriculture;
biological or ecological science.
The Chair of the Regulator holds office on a full‑time basis.
A member of the Regulator (other than the Chair) may hold office on either a full‑time or a part‑time basis.
