Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918

This section applies in relation to references in this Subdivision to electoral expenditure incurred by an Independent House candidate or member in a period.

To avoid doubt, electoral expenditure incurred by an Independent House candidate or member is counted only once, even if the person satisfies both paragraphs (a) and (b) of the definition of Independent House candidate or member at the same time.

To avoid doubt, if, at a time in the period, an Independent House candidate or member who satisfies one paragraph of the definition of Independent House candidate or member starts to satisfy the other paragraph instead, a reference to electoral expenditure incurred by the person in the period includes electoral expenditure incurred by the person before the time.
