Appointment
24 Appointment
Members are to be appointed by the Minister by written instrument.
A Member may be reappointed, subject to subsection 25(2): see section 33AA of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.
Before appointing a person as a member, the Minister must have regard to the person’s experience, expertise and qualifications in fields relevant to the Authority’s functions.
In making appointments, the Minister must, to the extent reasonably practicable, ensure that the members collectively possess the skills and qualifications necessary for the Authority to perform its functions.
If there are one or more members, the Minister must appoint one member to be the Chair.
A member holds office on a part‑time basis.
Nothing in this Act requires there to be members (including acting members) of the Authority at any particular time.
