Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003

If a law enforcement officer reasonably suspects that a person on a security regulated ship is committing, or has committed, an offence against this Act, the officer may request the person to leave:

the ship; or

if the ship is within a maritime security zone—the zone.

If a law enforcement officer reasonably suspects that a person within a maritime security zone is committing, or has committed, an offence against this Act, the officer may request the person to leave the zone.

A person commits an offence if:

a request has been made to the person under subsection (1) or (2); and

the person fails to comply with the request.

Subsection (3) is an offence of strict liability.
