54 Offence—failure to comply with direction to dispose of security‑sensitive biological agent
(1)
An entity commits an offence if:
(a)
the entity is given a direction under subsection 53(3); and
(b)
the entity does not comply with the direction within the period allowed under that subsection.
Penalty: 500 penalty units.
Note 1:
If the entity is a body corporate, the maximum penalty that may be imposed is 2,500 penalty units: see subsection 4B(3) of the Crimes Act 1914.
Note 2:
For the value of a penalty unit, see subsection 4AA(1) of the Crimes Act 1914.
(2)
Section 4K of the Crimes Act 1914 does not apply to an offence against subsection (1).
