Making objections
If the application was certified by representative Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander bodies for the area (see paragraph 24CG(3)(a)), any person claiming to hold native title in relation to any of the land or waters in the area covered by the agreement may object, in writing to the Registrar, against registration of the agreement on the ground that the requirements of paragraph 203BE(5)(a), (b) or (c) were not satisfied in relation to the certification.
Assistance in withdrawing objection
If an objection is made within the notice period, the parties to the agreement may request assistance from the NNTT or a recognised State/Territory body in negotiating with the person making the objection with a view to having the objection withdrawn.
Information obtained to provide assistance not to be used or disclosed in other contexts
The NNTT must not use or disclose information to which it has had access only because it provided assistance under subsection (2) for any purpose other than providing that assistance without the prior consent of the person who provided the NNTT with the information.
