242 Salvage claims against the Crown, etc
Subject to subsection (2), regulations made for the purposes of this Part apply in relation to salvage operations conducted:
to save life from, or to assist, a Government vessel—as if the vessel were not a Government vessel; or
to save any wreck, cargo or equipment that belongs to the Commonwealth or a State or Territory—as if the wreck, cargo or equipment belonged to a person other than the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory.
A claim does not lie against the Commonwealth or the Australian Postal Corporation because of this section in respect of anything done or suffered in relation to an article in the course of post, or the contents of an article in the course of post, while the article is or was being carried by sea.
Section 10 does not limit this section.
