74 Regulations relating to accommodation, etc
The regulations may make provision in relation to accommodation to be provided for seafarers on vessels.
Without limiting subsection (1), the regulations may make provision in relation to the following:
the minimum amount of space to be provided for each seafarer;
the maximum number of seafarers to be accommodated in a specified part of a vessel;
the part of a vessel in which the whole or a part of the accommodation is to be provided;
the requirements for the construction, furnishing and equipment of the accommodation, including heating, lighting and ventilation;
the maximum levels of noise, vibration and other ambient factors;
the maintenance and repair of the accommodation;
the prohibition or restriction of the use of accommodation for a purpose other than that specified;
the provision of hot and cold fresh water;
the provision of bedding, mess utensils, towels and toiletries;
the submission of plans and specifications relating to the provision or alteration of accommodation.
Regulations may make provision in relation to the following:
the provision of ventilation of machinery and boiler spaces;
the provision of wheelhouses.
