Inquiries and reports by Tribunal on Ministerial salaries
44 Inquiries and reports by Tribunal on Ministerial salaries
At least once each year, the Remuneration Tribunal must inquire into, and report to the Remuneration Tribunal Minister on, the question of whether any alterations are desirable in the Ministerial salaries that are payable out of public money of the Commonwealth.
There is an annual limit on the sum payable for Ministerial salaries (see section 55).
If the Remuneration Tribunal reports under subsection (1) that alterations are desirable in respect of a matter, it must, in its report, recommend the nature and extent of the alterations that should be made.
The Remuneration Tribunal Minister must cause a copy of the report to be laid before each House of the Parliament within 15 sitting days of that House after the report is received by the Remuneration Tribunal Minister.
