Transition to participating insurer under the new Act
48 Transition to participating insurer under the new Act
A private health insurer may apply under the new Act to become a participating insurer for the purposes of that Act on or after 1 July 2007.
Before 1 July 2007, applications may still be made under the Private Health Insurance Incentives Act 1998.
If, immediately before 1 July 2007, a private health insurer was a participating fund for the purposes of the Private Health Insurance Incentives Act 1998, that insurer is taken to be a participating insurer for the purposes of Part 2‑2 and Part 6‑4 of the new Act.
Subsection (2) does not prevent the Minister revoking the insurer’s status as a participating insurer under section 206‑1 of the new Act.
