49 Meaning of appearance
A reference in this Division to an appearance includes a reference to a notice in writing:
that a person served with an initiating process gives to the tribunal of issue; and
that contains a statement that the person:
acknowledges service of the process; or
intends to make a submission regarding an issue arising in the proceeding in relation to which the process has been issued; or
intends to contest the tribunal’s jurisdiction to hear the proceeding; and
that:
complies with any requirements with which the notice must comply under a law of the place of issue (including rules governing the procedure of the tribunal); or
the tribunal determines to be acceptable despite any non‑compliance with such requirements.
