88 Appointing an Investigator
Accident involving space object
If an accident involving a space object occurs, the Minister must appoint a person as the Investigator of the accident.
Accident involving high power rocket
If an accident involving a high power rocket occurs in circumstances where:
a person dies or suffers serious injury as a result of the operation of the rocket; or
the rocket causes damage to other property;
the Minister must appoint a person as the Investigator of the accident.
If an accident involving a high power rocket occurs in circumstances where:
the rocket is destroyed or seriously damaged; and
subsection (1A) does not apply;
the Minister may appoint a person as the Investigator of the accident.
Incident involving space object or high power rocket
If an incident occurs, the Minister may appoint a person as the Investigator of the incident.
Appointee to have suitable qualifications and experience
Before appointing a person under this section, the Minister must be satisfied that the person has suitable qualifications and experience to be an Investigator.
