1 Definitions
In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears:
aircraft means any machine or craft that can derive support in the atmosphere from the reactions of the air.
aircraft movement means:
the landing of an aircraft on a runway; or
the taking off of an aircraft from a runway.
Airservices Australia means the body called Airservices Australia that is established by the Air Services Act 1995.
associated: an *aircraft movement and a *gate movement are associated if:
for an aircraft movement that is a take‑off—the gate movement is the last gate movement of the aircraft before the take‑off; or
for an aircraft movement that is a landing—the gate movement is the first gate movement of the aircraft after the landing.
block time: see section 14.
Chair means the Chair of the *Compliance Committee.
civil penalty provision has the same meaning as in the Regulatory Powers Act.
commercially sensitive information: see subsection 70G(5).
Compliance Committee means the committee established by subsection 66(1).
curfew period has the same meaning as in the Sydney Airport Curfew Act 1995.
declared exemption means an instrument made by the *Slot Manager under section 47 or 48.
entrusted person: see subsection 70G(3).
gate movement: see section 11.
maximum movement limit: see subsection 6(1A).
member means a member of the *Compliance Committee and includes the Chair.
no‑slot movement: see section 12.
off‑slot movement: see section 13.
operator of an aircraft means the person who, when a *gate movement using the aircraft occurs, is:
unless paragraph (b) applies—the owner of the aircraft; or
if the aircraft is under a lease at the time of the movement—the lessee of the aircraft.
protected information: see subsection 70G(4).
recovery hour: see subsection 9B(3).
recovery period: see subsection 9B(1).
recovery period declaration: see subsection 9A(2).
regulated hour: see subsections 6(2) and (3).
Regulatory Powers Act means the Regulatory Powers (Standard Provisions) Act 2014.
Secretary means the Secretary of the Department.
sensitive personal information: see subsection 70G(6).
slot: see subsection 34(2).
Slot Management Scheme: see subsection 34(1).
Slot Manager means the body corporate appointed under section 61 to hold the office of Slot Manager.
Sydney Airport means the airport known as Sydney (Kingsford‑Smith) Airport.
this Act includes:
the regulations; and
any instruments made under this Act; and
the Regulatory Powers Act as it applies in relation to this Act.
