Strategic plan
11 Strategic plan
In this section—
strategic plan means a plan setting out how the Commissioner proposes to exercise the Commissioner’s functions in the period to which the plan relates.
The Commissioner must, as soon as reasonably practicable after the Commissioner’s appointment, prepare a strategic plan.
The strategic plan is to be prepared in consultation with the Minister.
A strategic plan must—
state the period (not being less than one year or more than 3 years) to which it relates, and
outline the Commissioner’s key objectives and priorities for that period.
In particular, and without limiting subsection (4) (b), the plan must address the following—
a strategy to combat human trafficking in accordance with the National Action Plan to Combat Modern Slavery 2020–25 launched by the Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs on 9 December 2020,
strategies for raising public awareness about modern slavery and providing education and training about combating modern slavery.
A new strategic plan may be made in accordance with this section to replace an earlier strategic plan.
The Commissioner is to cause a copy of the strategic plan (and any replacement strategic plan) to be published on a publicly accessible website.
