Abandoning animal

(1)

A person in control of an animal commits an offence of strict liability if the person abandons the animal.

Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.

(2)

It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (1) if the defendant releases a native animal into the wild after the rehabilitation of the animal.
