25B Special correctional officers
(1)
The Commissioner may appoint a person to be a special correctional officer if the Commissioner is satisfied the person has the qualifications, skills or experience to properly perform the functions of a special correctional officer.
(2)
A special correctional officer may exercise the powers and perform the functions of a correctional officer under this or any another Act, subject to any conditions, limitations or qualifications decided by the Commissioner.
(3)
A special correctional officer is not a public sector employee by virtue of the officer's appointment as a special correctional officer.
