18 Registration of fishing vessels
The owner of a vessel may apply to the Director to have the vessel registered.
After considering the application, the Director may register the vessel for a period of not more than 10 years if satisfied that:
the sustainability of the fisheries would not be jeopardised by the registration; and
any requirements or matters prescribed by regulation as being relevant to an application for registration have been satisfied; and
it is otherwise appropriate to do so, taking into consideration any Ministerial Guidelines and any matter the Director considers relevant.
If the Director is not satisfied as mentioned in subsection (2), the Director must refuse to register the vessel.
