Surveillance Devices Act 2007

(1) The

Commissioner of Police may appoint an eligible employee to be an authorised person to use a surveillance device under a warrant.

(2) An eligible employee may be appointed only if the Commissioner is satisfied the employee has the qualifications or experience to use surveillance devices.

(3) An appointment is subject to the conditions stated in the instrument of appointment.

(4) In this section:

eligible employee means:

(a) an

Aboriginal Community Police officer or Police auxiliary appointed under section 19 of the Police Administration Act 1978;

or

(b) a public sector employee assigned to the Police Civil Employment Unit.

Police

Civil Employment Unit means the Agency of that name mentioned in Schedule 1 to the Public Sector Employment and Management Act

1993.
