Building Act 1975

A notice (a show cause notice) inviting a person to show cause why an enforcement or revocation notice should not be given to the person must—

be in writing; and

outline the facts and circumstances forming the basis for the belief that an enforcement or revocation notice should be given to the person; and

state that representations may be made about the show cause notice; and

state how the representations may be made; and

state where the representations may be made or sent; and

state—

a day and time for making the representations; or

a period within which the representations must be made.

The day or period stated in the notice must be, or must end, at least 20 business days after the notice is given.
