The Registrar may, by written notice given to an entity, exempt the entity from subsection (4) if the Registrar is satisfied the entity is trading or carrying on business for:
the purpose of promoting the economic interests of its members in accordance with co-operative principles; or
a charitable purpose.
An exemption given under subsection (6A):

has effect for the period stated in the exemption, unless it is earlier revoked.
If the Registrar gives an entity an exemption under subsection (6A):
subsection (4) does not apply in relation to the entity while the exemption is in effect; and
the Registrar may vary the conditions of the exemption, or revoke the exemption, by written notice given to the entity.
