General powers after entering places
507 General powers after entering places
This section applies to an inspector who enters a place under this Part.
For the purpose of monitoring or enforcing compliance with this Law, the inspector may—
search any part of the place; or
examine, inspect, photograph or film anything at the place; or
copy a document at the place; or
take into or onto the place any persons, equipment and materials the inspector reasonably requires for exercising a power under this Part; or
require a person in the place to give the inspector reasonable help to exercise the powers referred to in paragraphs (a)–(d).
A person required to give reasonable help under subsection (2) (e) must comply with the requirement, unless the person has a reasonable excuse.Maximum penalty—$2,000.
If the help is required to be given to an inspector by—
answering a question; or
producing a document, other than a document required to be kept under this Law;
it is a reasonable excuse for the person to fail to answer the question, or produce the document, if complying with the requirement might tend to incriminate the person.
