The public trustee must give the protected defendant a receipt for a victim trust fund transferred to the public trustee under section 319P within 14 days after the public trustee receives the fund.

The receipt is sufficient discharge to the protected defendant as to the victim trust fund and on receiving the receipt, the protected defendant is not liable or accountable for the victim trust fund or liable for the application, distribution or appropriation of the victim trust fund.

The public trustee must give a copy of the receipt to the chief executive at the same time the public trustee gives the protected defendant the receipt.
