81E Notice to discover—crime investigation or specific intelligence operation (crime)
This section applies if the chairperson reasonably suspects that a unit of public administration possesses information relevant to a crime investigation or specific intelligence operation (crime).
The chairperson may require a person holding an appointment in the unit of public administration, by giving the person a notice (a notice to discover), to give an identified commission officer an oral or written statement of the information.
The notice to discover may be given whether or not the commission is conducting a hearing for the investigation or operation.
The chairperson may require the person—
to give an oral statement of information under oath; or
to give a written statement of information by way of statutory declaration.
