240 Entitlement to policy development payment—independent member
(1)
An elected member is entitled to a policy development payment for a 6-month period if the commission is satisfied the member is an independent member on the last day of the 6-month period.
(2)
An independent member is an elected member who—
(a)
was an independent candidate in the most recent general election; and
(b)
is not a member of a registered political party.
(3)
This section does not apply if the independent member has given the commission written notice that the member does not wish to receive policy development payments and has not withdrawn the notice in writing.
