The staff of the commission consist of—
electoral registrars, returning officers and assistant returning officers appointed under this division; and
other staff necessary for the performance of the commission’s functions.
The staff of the commission are to be employed under the Public Sector Act 2022.
Subsection (2) does not apply to—
electoral registrars, returning officers and assistant returning officers; and
persons employed on a temporary basis in connection with the conduct of a particular election or referendum.
The commission may, on behalf of the State, employ persons on a temporary basis in connection with the conduct of a particular election or referendum.
